TREE TRIMMING ALONG CAMDEN AVENUE TO PROTECT ELECTRICAL INFRASTRUCTURE AND IMPROVE SAFETY
Msukaligwa Local Municipality’s Parks and Cemeteries Unit, under the Community and Social Services Department, is carrying out tree trimming and maintenance operations along Camden Avenue, near Pick n Pay, as part of ongoing environmental maintenance and town beautification efforts.
The primary objective of this operation is to prevent interference between overgrown vegetation and overhead electrical infrastructure. When tree branches grow too close to power lines, they may cause power interruptions, safety hazards, and unplanned service disruptions. The trimming of trees therefore plays an important role in protecting electrical infrastructure and supporting a more reliable electricity supply in the area.
In addition, the work contributes towards improving visibility for motorists and pedestrians, ensuring that road signs and business signage remain clearly visible, and enhancing the overall appearance of the area. It also helps reduce potential safety risks associated with falling branches during strong winds and adverse weather conditions.
Using specialised equipment, including an extended pole pruner, officials are able to safely and efficiently trim trees and remove branches in hard-to-reach areas along the route.
Motorists and pedestrians are urged to exercise caution when travelling through the area while operations are underway. The municipality appeals to the public to remain patient and cooperate with officials on site as the work continues.
Msukaligwa Local Municipality remains committed to maintaining reliable infrastructure, safer public spaces, and a cleaner and more attractive environment for all residents, businesses, and visitors.
